Guadeloupe - in the top 10 of this year
Guadeloupe vacations will take you to a lively center of Creole culture, boasting a spirited blend of French and African influences. As well known for its sugar and rum as for its beaches and resorts, Guadeloupe vacations offer an interesting mix of modern cities, rural hamlets, rainforests and secluded beaches. Guadeloupe is warm year-round, with mild evenings in winter (December to February), when temperatures linger anywhere between 19°C and 28°C. February to April are the driest months, with rain falling an average of seven days a month and the humidity keeping in the realm of the tolerable. This is the best time to go on Guadeloupe vacations, and as such it's also the peak tourist season.

Guadeloupe vacations are great
Guadeloupe vacations boast plenty of restaurants, bars and discos, with displays of local dancing and music. On Guadeloupe vacations you should see and maybe try the famous dance of the island is called the Biguine, where colorful and ornate Creole costumes are still worn. Biguine is a form of clarinet and trombone music with nasal vocals and improvised instrumental solos, and roots in West African dance. It has long since evolved into embracing more wide-reaching genres such as jazz and pop. |

And more ...
There are five islands to explore on your Guadeloupe vacations: Basse-Terre, Grande Terre (separated from Basse-Terre by a narrow sea channel called Salt River) with the adjacent islands of La Desirade, Les Saintes and Marie-Galante. Basse-Terre has a rough volcanic relief, while Grande Terre features rolling hills and flat plains. The volcano Soufriere (4,813 ft; 1,467 m), also called La Grande Soufriere, is the highest point on Guadeloupe. Further to the north you can visit on your Guadeloupe vacations Saint-Barthelemy and the French part of Saint Martin once came under the jurisdiction of Guadeloupe but on December 7, 2003, both of these areas voted to become an overseas territorial collectivity. |
